JOHNNY B SAYS

Prior to the Summer cycle, only five people on the entire planet had ever won back-to-back King of the Ring titles on more than one occasion: Jonathan Akers, Michael Eaves, "The Smooth One" Jeff Manning, Rich Reilly, and Matt Yunick. But manager IWA Legend Terrence Boyd has now earned a spot on that prestigious list with a repeat performance of the June 2021 cycle. Congratulations on your achievement, Terrence!

Manager R. Routh also has cause to feel proud of himself: he scored 10 free matches for all players in the Vicious Valkyries League next cycle by keeping the Women's World Championship in the VVL! Consider giving the revered veteran of the game a shout-out in your next trash talk submission.

2026 STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONS

This year, a total of 305 hopefuls took part in the 50 free-for-alls held across the U.S. Each title was accompanied by a check for $100,000, and the Gray Jedi claimed nearly half the gold! Longtime manager Dennis Mooney guided the only six wrestlers on his roster to their first victory, and then to 21 sequels. Simply incredible. The New York State Champion also has yet to fully embrace The Dark Side, but he did prove he's no mere moortil by taking on Dennis's knights, along with the other 20 winners from the event, in the thrilling final battle royal held in Howard Slugh's hometown and outlasting everyone to secure the bonus $50,000 for himself and 50 free matches for his manager, Adam Kleinow.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES -- engraved plaque

Michael Drake of New Jersey

VIRUS: Machine Gun Karl Anderson (DXL) 263-234-34, *50, $1,530,700
VIRUS: Malakai King (XWA) 1,030-228-46, *59, $1,822,100

"Mighty MG"

Massive Mike Gaspetoni (OSL) 1,015-215-52, *21, $1,932,100
To be a wrestler whose namesake would one day be as infamous as "The Playboy" or "The Brain" is as good a place to start as any. This is the wrestler who showed a family the ways to winning -- taking the first League title of what would become a treasure trove in the range of a small country's GNP.

It was 1989. Jacklin-Muto Enterprises, Kirk Larkin, Eric Richardson, and Erik Klamer were helpless to stop it. The only person capable of tainting this feat was none other than that rascal Johnny B himself -- well, specifically, his poor spelling. And yet, the Clan would use that error and do what they do best: turn it into something special. The IWA Hall of Fame rolls out the red carpet and welcomes in Massive Mike Gaspetoni.

"SG Evil Steve"

The Evil Being (OSL) 1,060-250-55, *27, $2,556,100
How many wrestlers can say they began their career as a singles juggernaut? Let's make sure The Evil Being is counted among them! His meteoric rise was a mere glimpse of what was to come. The aura, the unmistakable presence that he brought with him, probably sealed wins before the matches ever began. It wasn't his work on promos (the good Lord knows that!): for all his strength, athleticism, and ring IQ... words were his toughest enemy. His first stint began in 1993 in the aptly named Young Blood League. His incredible success as a singles competitor, coupled with his equally stellar ego, made him refuse the idea of being part of a tag-team -- at first.

Who would've thought he would go down as half of an all-time great tandem?! And yet, that is exactly what happened: paired with another singles stud, Prince of Pain, they formed "Evil ~N~ Pain," winners of 33 tag-team and 46 six-man championships. But unlike most other great tandems, The Evil Being continued collecting singles titles the way guys named Scott collect food stamps: winner of the Steel, Gold, and Diamond Federation titles, along with three American Championships -- not bad for half of a tag-team that won World tag, U.S. tag, Continental tag (only the senior citizens remember that one), and World Six-man twice. If he were inducted in almost any other class, he would be the headliner, hands down.

Sadistic Steve Supreme (OSL) 1,542-367-68, *26, $4,475,933
With almost 1,500 Hall-of-Famers, it's obvious there's quite a bit of fluff. Beating the bottom forty jobbers every cycle for a year and a half is a low entry fee -- lower, even, than dumpster diving in the back alleys of Willowick. Can the story of the IWA's all-time greats be told without wrestlers like the 13th Baddest Biker named John, Ace, Vice, Thrice, or Keith's mom? Yes. Yes, it can. But it most certainly cannot be told without the likes of NFL: Jumping John Elway, Marvelous Mark D'Angelis, Frank Leatherman Snow, or Dr. Feelgood. No, it cannot.

There are fewer than 700 World Champions in the history of the IWA. Of them, very few have won multiple World titles. And of that elite group, even fewer can lay claim to 20 League titles, and over 100 total titles. And of the elite of the elite, possibly only a handful at most competed in elite leagues of their time. That's the resume of the one-and-only Sadistic Steve Supreme! The OSL, ASL, and ECL circa 2009-2012 were home to several legendary managers and wrestlers -- legends who watched The Sadistic One rise to the top of each league multiple times, winning the top Commissioner's titles in all three leagues, always a presence on the front page, and often a presence in the IWA Report, including StableCade winner, IWA-wide Central champ, two-time American Champion, two-time World Six-man Champion, and of course, the IWA World Heavyweight Champion. "Supreme" was crowned 2010 IWA Wrestler of the Year by a poll of governing managers. As good as Triple S was in the ring -- and it has been made clear in this space: he was without peer -- he might have been even better on the mic. His legendary takedowns include a who's who of trash talk masters in their own right. And yet, he owes a debt of gratitude to all his greatest competitors, who helped him learn what it took to be able to genuinely be called the best.

If we went on to discuss all the ways that SSS dominated, affected, and impacted leagues, managers, and the IWA... time would fail us all.
