What can be said about Confederate Headbanger Blackjack Larue? Living legend? Last World Champion to hold the prestigious World Championship clock? Standing 6'5" and weighing in at 300 pounds, he started out as Bullrope Larue. After signing with "The Mouth of the South" Dynamic Dan Harrell, he took over as head of the Confederate Headbangers and quickly rose through the ranks of the Full Moon League to capture the IWA World title. He continued to wrestle throughout the '90s, capturing U.S. Six-man gold with his fellow Confederate Headbangers, before semi-retiring in 1998. He made sporadic appearances in the last two and a half decades, and finally got the call to return and join his fellow Cesspool of Sinn alumni in the Hall of Fame. Dusting off the wrestling boots and his trademark black Stetson, he faced "Bloodhound" Barry Carnage in his last match in the BBL. He leaves a lasting Larue legacy on the IWA. His sons (Rampage Barry Larue, Jr. and Wendell Larue) and grandchildren have all followed in the family business, and one day, they will join their Larue patriarch in the hallowed IWA Hall of Fame.
Ol' Blackjack said in an interview with the IWA's Loraluv after giving his farewell announcement, "It's been a long and winding journey. I've won my fair share and beat everyone from A to Z -- eh, just name 'em, I've beaten them a time or two. It's time to hang up the spurs and call it a career. I'm the last legend of the Golden Age of the IWA. It's been a pleasure!"
It's a well-deserved and long overdue accomplishment for this nearly 40-year legend of the IWA!
