JOHNNY B SAYS
Several legends are entering the Hall of Fame this cycle after long, illustrious careers. It's always bittersweet seeing wrestlers of their caliber stepping out of the squared circle for the last time, but it's also fitting that their countless accomplishments will be honored, and that they'll be taking their rightful place among the game's most storied athletes.
Speaking of legends, Sheik Yerbutti won a fourth World Championship for IWA Legend Terrence Boyd this cycle, which is one year after Terrence took home his very first! The Sheik was originally managed by '80s IWA legends Frank Marano and then Johnny Mayhem, both of whom also led the superstar to World title wins.
Congratulations are in order for manager Donald Henry, who won a real-life belt for being the final champion in the Unknown Wrestler League. Honorable mention goes to manager Michael Cook, who entered the maximum of six wrestlers and was able to keep all of them from being eliminated for 25 grueling rounds! That's quite a feat.
The next exciting iteration of the UWL will use the Iron Federation hold values. We'll begin accepting applications during the October cycle -- just in time for mask season.
Next cycle (Fall), find out how many of your wrestlers end up wearing gold at the 2022 IWA Specialty Championships!
HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES -- engraved plaque
Frank Snow of Tennessee
At a recent WTL house show, the fans were surprised when all the lights were turned off. Everyone was getting restless, when the lights illuminating the ring came back on. In the center of the ring were five stacks of wrestling gear:
#1... Shiny white boots and an ornate robe
LB/VIRUS: Nature Boy Tommy Landell (WTL) 3,789-1,065-211, *67, $9,095,400
#2... White trunks and white boots with "Angel" inscribed on the sides
LB/VIRUS: Golden Boy Teddy Angel (WTL) 3,347-950-170, *57, $7,944,100
#3... Black leather duster, black boots, and a black Stetson
LB/VIRUS: Dark Phoenix F.S. (WTL) 3,976-1,129-177, *69, $8,935,900
#4 and #5... Cowboy boots and cowboy hats
LB/VIRUS: Cowboy Sexton Hardcastle (WTL) 2,423-489-124, *33, $5,153,100
& LB/VIRUS: Cowboy Black Jack Kavana (WTL) 3,250-853-195, *69, $7,597,900
The LB faction in the WTL has decided to call it a career. The Cowboys said it best: "It's the end of the trail for us. We gave our all. And our opponents had a LONG, HARD... RIDE!"
Wade Reinhard of Pennsylvania
ICE: Electron Warrior (CFL) 1,091-252-39, *35, $2,490,400 has announced his retirement after a 34-year career in the IWA. He entered the game in 1989, in a long-forgotten league, as The Warrior (yes, I know, very creative), and was the first wrestler managed by Wade Reinhard. After a cycle, he transferred to the IGL and adopted the Electron Warrior name.
Over the years, he has competed in the IGL, PPL, TGL, NBL, CFL, XWL, and GWL (and probably a few others). He is best known for teaming with Road Warrior Beast and The Skyscraper. His finishing maneuver, the Shocker, was legendary: he would pull a miniature cattle prod from the ring apron as the referee's head was turned, and use it on his opponent.
During his career, he added the following IWA achievements to his plentiful in-league accolades: Gold Federation, Feb. 2021; Bayview Beach, Third Place, Imagimania, Dec. 2020; and a #14 IWA Tag-team ranking with Steel, the son of the original Road Warrior Beast, in October of 2020. He had won many State Wrestling and Imagimania titles in his early years, but those records have been lost to history.
COT: The Hitman Francisco Rosario (CFL) 1,147-289-40, *34, $2,174,333 is also retiring. Rosario began his career in the IGL in 1991, teaming with future IWA HOF'er Fabulous Felix Rodriguez as part of the Latino Heat tag-team. He was known for a hard-hitting style of wrestling and not showing his opponents any mercy. He competed in many leagues over the years, including the ASL, CFL, and IGL. He held the IGL Intercontinental title for several cycles before it was retired. He was also edged for the Bronze Federation and Hardcore titles in November 2020. Shortly after this, he was involved in a car accident. The injuries he sustained would hamper him for the rest of his career. He never reached those heights again, and is now hanging up his boots to open a chain of car customization shops across the Northeast.
