JOHNNY B SAYS To increase the competition for the American title, the Evil Clown League in the Diamond Federation is now our newest American league. The ECL champion will be in the running for the belt starting at the end of this cycle. Donald Henry of Illinois is retiring two of his accomplished ASL wrestlers. UKA: Masked Invader (1,308-297-48, $2,296,800 *9) debuted in the Punk Rock League in May of 1997. He fought many battles and shed much blood. Despite retiring, he will still dish out punishment on the mean streets of Chicago. UKA: Masked Warlord (1,251-134-19, $2,237,300 *13) is a former Rough House Champion who made his PRL debut in July of 1997. He was a living nightmare in the ring, and ended many careers with his Warhead Impact finisher. The epic battle of his two-year, three-way feud in the old XXL is still considered legendary. Congratulations go out to Donald for managing two very successful wrestlers all the way to the IWA Hall of Fame! He will receive an engraved plaque for each of them. Chris Spellman of Illinois had two WWL tag-teams with perfect scores this cycle (Randy Orton and Shelton Benjamin, plus Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels). He added Matt Hardy to the first team and the Hurricane to the second and increased both team totals from 516 to 521. The in-league matches for those wrestlers were not played. Since only active wrestlers are eligible to compete for IWA-wide titles, he was left out this cycle. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Chris. Please accept our sincerest apologies.
WORLD CHAMPION After conquering the Diamond Federation a second straight cycle, BOC: Louisiana Wildfire (WKL) decided he was ready for the big time, and manager Henry Boegle of New York agreed. They used a 500-pointer to turn back the other federation winners and claim the $300,000 purse, plus the real-life prize of a wrestling belt and 50 free matches or 100 free matches for Henry!
U.S. CHAMPION Gaining this large, engraved plaque or 25 free matches was Garett J. Guzman of Missouri, whose EDGE: Hydrocephaloid (LVL) beat BOC: Sugar Wolf Leroy Johnson (WKL) by point flow! Both wrestlers had 500 points.
KING OF THE RING Ben Rogers of Nevada won his choice of a large, engraved plaque or 25 free matches after leading Freedom Fighter (TML) to victory over all other battle royal winners! IE/NMG: Texas Ranger Dan Bowdrie (KCL) had the same eight-hold King of the Ring total, but Freedom Fighter won by point flow since his 15 holds added up to 500.
AMERICAN CHAMPION The IWA American title remained in the custody of Eric Dudick from New York. This cycle he won it with DC: Repercussion (ESL), so he gets another engraved plaque or 15 free matches!
HARDCORE CHAMPION Eric Dudick of New York added another engraved plaque or 15 free matches to his collection by leading DC: Billy Club Sandwich (JWL) to the top of our Hardcore leagues. Well done!
URBAN LEGEND CHAMPION With a 500-pointer, EDGE: Bloody Barrister (LVL) claimed this title's engraved plaque or 15 free matches for manager Garett J. Guzman of Missouri.
FEDERATION PLAY-OFFS SHK: Honest Abe (MIL) won the Iron Federation title for Dave Nichols of Wisconsin, who can now enjoy 25 free matches! In the Steel Federation, WWW: The Mad Hornet (RHL) defeated GOTH: Body Snatcher Kano Yuichiro (HAL) by point flow, adding another title to manager Kevin Scott of California's resume. The Gold Federation champion was GOTH/DEATHKNIGHT: Zodiac Killer (LNL), managed by Mike Dorsett of New York. He had to edge out DC: Cornelius Curlymaplewood (SFL), EDGE: Pusherman (HML), EDGE/DR: Anthony S. Spivey (TDL), and MOR: Master of the Demon Axe (BRL). Before he became the IWA World Champion, Louisiana Wildfire wanted to impress everyone by repeating as the Diamond Federation champion. He accomplished this by edging WWW: Mike White Lightning Moore (ECL), EDGE: Bloody Barrister (LVL), and UKA: Jammin' James (LBL)! All four men had 500 points. Taking the Bronze prize was WWW: "Phage Ranger" Angus Lok (TML). He's managed by Kevin Araujo of Massachusetts. The Jade Federation saw CTI: Paindealer Demon (KCL) claim the free matches for "Ice Cold Enforcer" Alan Handley of North Carolina.
NATIONAL CHAMPION, IWA-WIDE REGIONALS Sporting a 500 total and fresh off his victory in the Central region, UKA: Blaspheme (LBL) ended up with the National prize of a large, engraved plaque or 25 free matches for manager James Nichols of Florida. Nice job! The other regions were claimed by...
LADIES' TITLES For the third time in the last four cycles, the CTI stable held the Ladies' World title! This time around it was Evil Erin (FFL) leading the charge. She's managed by Andre Sabucco of Texas, who will receive an engraved plaque or 15 free matches. Andre also won the Ladies' U.S. title, using CTI: Moody Maddie (FFL). Taking the Queen of the Ring glory was GOTH: Queen of GOTH (VVL), managed by our favorite player from Sweden, Mattias Karlsson! The Ladies' National Champion was NME: John Kerry "In a Dress" (FFL), managed by C.J. Frank of Texas. He--uh, she had to use point flow to beat CB: "Perfect Ten" Jen Carfagno (FFL). The Ladies' U.S. tag belts went to SC: Perfect Piper Perabo and Sadistic Sarah Lancaster (GDL), who are managed by Stephen Hite of Pennsylvania. Winning the Ladies' Tag-team straps were NME: Prison Decorator Martha Stewart and Scandalous Heidi Fleiss (WUL). Steven J. Deane of Nebraska led them to point flow victory over NVUS: Evil Edna Krabappel and Monstrous Maggie Simpson (FFL), but Steven Henkel of Maryland added Loathesome Lisa Simpson to his team and they were able to win the World Six-woman titles with a perfect 521. So everything was pretty much Even Steven, but then Mr. Henkel decided to go after the U.S. Six-woman championships. He won them with NVUS: Dangerous Daphne Blake, Vicious Velma Dinkley, and Malicious Marge Simpson (FFL).
WORLD TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONS WC: Zeron "Spaceman" Johnson-WK and Chester "Coyote" Wright (HML), who manages himself and the Spaceman from his gym in Michigan, went home with these $50,000 titles and an engraved plaque or 15 free matches for Chester. Great teamwork, guys!
